I’m Jeremy McKellar, a Senior Modern Work Architect at Microsoft based in Charlotte, NC. I work with state, local government, and education customers, I’m at the forefront of AI initiatives inside Microsoft, and I build with AI on my own time so my perspective comes from practice.

I help state, local government, and education customers make Microsoft 365 and AI work for their people, from planning through rollout. Inside Microsoft, I’m at the forefront of our AI initiatives, so I see firsthand what it takes to move AI from pilots to everyday work.

HOW I GOT HERE
Nearly a decade in Microsoft 365.
- 2012–2016
UNC Chapel Hill, B.S. Information Science. Plus UNC’s first full-stack web development cohort.
- 2016–2018
Customer advising and support engineering. Advised small business, education, and government customers, then supported enterprise customers worldwide.
- 2018–2022
Escalation engineering and FastTrack leadership. Owned complex engagements, mentored 40+ engineers, and received the FY22 FastTrack Americas High Impact Award.
- 2022–today
Senior Modern Work Architect. Working with state, local government, and education customers, and at the forefront of AI initiatives inside Microsoft.
OUTSIDE THE DAY JOB
I learn by building and sharing.
I publish quick daily AI Briefs, a plain-English read on the AI news that matters for work, and recap them weekly in the In the Loop newsletter. It’s researched and drafted by my personal AI assistant, and I approve every edition. I build small apps with AI to test ideas on real problems, and I co-host Tech Innovation Made Human ↗ as part of the Tech Simplified Network, where I serve as Chief AI Officer.
